If You Don’t Like What You See on Zoom, You’re Not Alone
Are you feeling more aware of the fine lines and wrinkles on your face than ever before?
While the pandemic has no doubt added a few stress lines to all our faces, chances are most of these signs of aging aren’t new. Rather, you are just noticing them more easily. The culprit? Zoom and other video conferencing platforms that give you a thumbnail of your face to stare at all day.
If you aren’t happy with what you see, you aren’t alone — nor do you have to just suck it up. There are plenty of med spa treatments for Zoom and plastic surgery procedures that can refresh your look.
Crow’s Feet, Heavy Brows and Tech Neck — Oh My!
What makes Zoom so different from, say, looking in the mirror? Two main factors. First, we don’t spend 9-5 in front of the mirror. Second, we tend to pose while looking at our reflection, but on video conferences, we are talking, working and living life. We catch ourselves in different poses and from different angles.
This exposes things we otherwise wouldn’t see. The crow’s feet when we authentically smile. Heavy brows as we concentrate. That darn tech neck when we look down at our notes. Luckily, all of these have effective treatments.
Surgical and Non-Surgical
The most effective and dramatic treatments are surgical in nature. Facelifts, brow lifts and neck lifts make significant changes and can really roll back the hands of time. Their primary advantage is their effectiveness. However, their major disadvantage is the recovery period. If your goal is to look good for work, you might not have 1-2 weeks you can take off to recover.
Non-surgical options, such as fillers, microneedling and others, still offer noticeable results, but they tend to be more subtle. However, there is usually no recovery period needed beyond staying out of the sun. It is also possible to combine several treatments to get a full pampering experience.
